If you are a student or a musician and would like to join a band there is a great opportunity for you to attend a brass or concert band rehearsal with Russell Gray one of the UK’s leading conductors and soloists. He will work with the bands on conducting, presentation and have ‘question & answer time”….. this will be of great benefit to students and musicians and a perfect opportunity to get back into music or join a band.
He will be taking master classes with the Brisbane bands during the month of July.
Please contact the coordinator who will be happy to direct you to a class in your area.

The two biggest concert events for the next couple of months will be
World War II Dance Spectacular on Friday night 24th April at Einbunpin Lagoon at Sandgate. Brisbane Metropolitan Bands in conjunction with the Deagon ward office, Sandgate Theatre Company and local community groups will present an Anzac eve concert with a difference. The concert starts at 6:30pm in the rotunda by the lagoon with South Brisbane Federal Band conducted by Mareika Gray with a selection of favourite wartime tunes. This will be followed up by a performance from the Sandgate Theatre Company complete with jeeps, an air raid siren and spotlights and featuring songs from Vera Lynn. The Andrews Sisters Tribute Band will take over the entertainment with vocal harmonies and dance routines which will bring back memories of the war years.
Andrews Sisters Tribute are three vocalists backed by members of the Glen Miller Orchestra Tribute Band. Performing all your favourite classic Andrews Sisters hit songs, including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Apple Blossom Time, and Rum and Cola, the girls do justice to the original harmonies and
will have you dancing in your seat.
Bring along a picnic rug and enjoy the night’s entertainment or kick off your shoes for a dance on the grass.
