BRASS ENCOUNTERS

Featuring Sunnybank Brass conducted by Louisa Smith. This beautiful park on the banks of the Brisbane river will host 30 of the city’s finest brass musicians as they play through an entertaining repertoire of tunes from traditional marches to pop and swing standards. Head down to the city’s botanical parklands for an encounter with brass that will have you tapping your feet for the rest of the afternoon.

SONGS OF PRAISE

Featuring the Brisbane City Temple Salvation Army Band conducted by Stuart Lang. Building on the popularity of the weekly ABC Television program ‘Songs of Praise’ the Temple Band will present an afternoon of celebration and praise which will feature many of the great anthems and hymns of the church. Contemporary hymns will also be woven into the afternoon celebration to create a rich tapestry of inspirational music.

TRAIN DAY

This event will run on October 24, 2010 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Featuring Ormiston Heritage Pipes and Drums. Enjoy bagpipes and steam trains as Scottish pipers entertain the crowds at the monthly Train Day at Bracken Ridge. Give the kids a treat with a ride on a real steam train organised by the Bracken Ridge Central Lions Club from 10am – 3pm. This is always a fun family day with food and plant stalls.
