MASSED BAND CELEBRATION
In a spectacular display in the centre of the city, Brisbane’s Bands will entertain, stun and surprise you. Don’t miss Brisbane’s Bands in all their glory – from brass bands to 60 piece concert bands, pipe bands, stage bands and even a calypso steel band! From the Queen Street Mall to King George Square, linked by marching brass bands led by giant puppets, this will be a round robin of musical styles and genres from latin to jazz, swing to blues. Where there is swing music, there will be swing dancers, so watch out for some fancy footwork as you are invited to join in, sing along, dance in King George Square and marvel at the strength and diversity of Brisbane’s musical talent.
LA MUSIQUE MAGNIFIQUE
Featuring Windsor Brass conducted by Michael Purtle. It’s the day before the international festival Fete de la Musique and Windsor Brass kicks off the city’s entertainment with a varied repertoire with a French flavour. If you feel inclined to kick up your heels and do the Can-Can, the band will happily oblige!
TRAIN DAY
Featuring South Brisbane Federal Band conducted by Ben Crocker. This is a day for the whole family to enjoy – there are rides on a real steam train provided by the Bracken Ridge Central Lions Club from 10am til 3pm with lots of food stalls, plant stalls and activities for the kids.
This is a family fun day and the band will play a lively, toe tapping selection of brass favourites.
